This website has been developed within the frame of the NERA project, essentially founded by the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union.
OSAP is a crowd-sourced community portal to assess civil buildings. The main idea behind OSAP is, to motivate people like you to collect data of buildings, like the one you live in, and add it to our database.
The idea behind OSAP, is to collect a large pool of building specifics, which can be used as basis for calculating hazards and possible damages in natural disaster-like situations like earthquakes.
If we have access to a comprehensive database of building information, it's much easier to get an idea of the impact of a (hopefully) hypthetical disaster situation: For example, in case of an earthquake, it makes a huge difference if we know when a building has been constructed, if it is a school or a dwelling house, and how many stories it has.
The better we can do calculations on this, the more specific we can react. Authorities like fire departments know what to expect, where to assume the worst situations and where to search for and help victims.
That's why we need you to support us! Please take a few minutes and add one or two buildings in your personal environment. It's for your own good, and the good of all of us.
